Where Do I Sell My Photos For Profit? BigStockPhoto

Image : http://www.flickr.com

BigStockPhoto is a personal favorite. BigStockPhoto pays from 50 cents to $3.00 for your pictures. One super thing about BigStockPhoto is that they have a list of pictures they are looking for. This is super, especially if you are new. It helps you decide what to submit. And it helps you sell your photos.

BigStockPhoto accepts JPG, EPS, AI, PSD, PNG and PDF formats. They also offer free tutorials to help improve your photo taking skills.

BigStockPhoto looks for this quality criteria in digital pictures.

1.) Images must be at least 800 pixels high or wide – but bigger photos sell better.

The bigger the better, up to 25 MB in data size. Average photo dimension is 2400 pixels in height or width. Bigger is better though (4000-5000px plus), and gives you more opportunities to sell it at higher prices.

2.) Images must be clear, well lit, well composed – the more usage possibilities there are, the better your photo will sell.

Photo image should be crisp and clear, and well lit. Dark, dim or poorly lit photo will not be approved. The more your photo looks like a postcard, album cover, high gloss advertisement, or something that should be framed, the better. Think about the commercial uses for your photos. If you can’t think of a reason why people would really need your photo you should re-think it. No graininess or blurriness (unless intended).

3.) Color photos should have rich accurate color.

Photos taken on a cloudy overcast day almost never have vibrant rich color. Avoid cloudy days, shoot on sunnier days normally.

4.) Photos should normally be level and/or color adjusted in Photoshop.

Most photos can benefit from a little level adjustment, color tweak, un-sharp mask, etc. in a graphics program like Photoshop. The best photos are virtually always retouched somehow.

PLEASE NOTE: We’re not suggesting major re-work – just level and color adjustment mainly. Do NOT over sharpen… this is a common mistake. Running sharpen filter more than once normally leaves unwanted artifacts and patterns.

5.) Subject should be evident. Good composition is key.

If you can’t tell who or what the subject of a photo is, chances are it’s poorly composed.

Pictures should meet the following criteria for a greater chance of acceptance

attractive images that look professional
unusual images, poses, concepts or subjects or things that would be hard to shoot
highly creative images
well shot, high quality
eye-catching
strong conceptual images
colorful
marketable / in demand
properly exposed (not too dark/shadowy/hard to see nor too light)

Steps in the process for selling your photos:

1. Sign Up at their website

2. Take the Tutorial (basic concepts and copyright issues)
3. Take the quiz (covers many basic concepts about what is allowed under copyright law and kind of quality needed. )
4. Upload your images

There is an image approval process. You will get feedback if your images are not what they are looking for. Don’t be discouraged or offended. They are trying the best way they know to give you good feedback and help you understand how to improve your pictures. Study the photos that are selling and try to attain the same quality. Then you will start to find a market for your work.

Canon PowerShot D10 Waterproof Digital Camera (12.1 MP, 3x Optical Zoom)

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Specifications: The Canon PowerShot D10 is new waterproof and weather proof compact digital camera model from Canon. It can take hi-def images with up to 12.1MP in resolution and has a 3x optical zoom. This model is waterproof up to 33ft underwater, shock proof (4 feet) and can withstand freezing temperatures of as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. This tough little camera can also capture videos.

Design: The Canon PowerShot D10 measures at 4.1 x 1.9 x 2.6 inches and weighs at 6.7 ounces. It has a rounded, rugged exterior and is currently largely available in blue/silver color. It has a large 2.5-inch LCD display and on the front, there is a flash located right above the lens. I personally think that the design makes it looks like a toy, but many people seems to be taken with the playful, casual design.

Features & Performance: Like most of Canon‘s point-and-shoot camera range, the Canon PowerShot D10 has most of the common features such as the DIGIC 4 processor, iSaps technology, face detection timer, auto contrast correction, red eye correction, image stabilizer and blink detection. The quality of the images taken was very good, thanks to its wide array of shooting modes. Some of the shooting modes include Snow, Sunset, Foliage, Aquarium, Underwater, Slow Shutter, Fireworks, Beach, Indoor, Night scene, and many more. This model does not have a lens cap so you will have to be careful to not scratch the lens. Many people, including myself, have been eagerly anticipating the release of a waterproof/weatherproof compact model from Canon for quite some time now. To put it in a nutshell, Canon has once again managed to delight us with the release of the Canon PowerShot D10.
